Sixteen days following their arrest, Mr Qadour’s father saw his son in Branch 291 of the Military Intelligence, situated in Qaboun neighbourhood in Damascus. They were both detained there until 19 September 2011, when they were separated and transferred to different detention centres. This was the last time Mr Qadour was seen.

On 11 August 2011, Mr Ammar Qadour was arrested by a patrol composed by members of the Political Security Forces, the State Security and the armed forces, all in military uniforms, during a raid on his father’s house in Betfeil village in Latakia countryside. The patrol, which arrived at the house in the early hours of the day, started to launch tear gas and opened fire. After an exchange of fire, the patrol arrested Mr Qadour and his father, without providing any arrest warrant. After their arrest, Mr Qadour and his father were detained in two different locations.

They also filed formal complaints with the authorities, including the military police. However, the authorities have always refused to provide any information on the fate and whereabouts of Mr Qadour.

Worried about his fate, Mr Qadour’s family also appointed two lawyers to inquire about his whereabouts, with no result.
